Gründungszuschuss

What it means

A benefit from the German employment agency under § 93 SGB III, for people becoming self-employed out of unemployment. It runs in two phases: six months at the level of your last unemployment benefit plus €300 a month towards social insurance, then nine more months of the €300 on application. It requires, among other things, at least 150 days of remaining unemployment benefit and an expert opinion that the plan can carry itself.

What it means here

Not what we award. A “founder’s salary” is neither this benefit nor any other: it rests on no entitlement, it doesn’t require you to be unemployed, and nobody has a right to it. Wherever the two appear in one sentence, the difference belongs in that sentence.
